I want to thank you for the great product you've created.
I work for Bulgarian Telecommunication Company in RD department.
My work is to test and evaluate a lot of products in BroadBand and
Aggregation area.
I downloaded the evaluation version from your site (24 hours working)
and I was impressed of the ease of configuration and stability and performance of
the product.
I used it to perform additional tests to other products and Mikrotik
performed amazing.
I personally want to thank you, for the given opportunity to work (just
testing) with Mikrotik. Keep on with the development this great product.

Mikrotik gave me the break from timeouts that I needed at my
cybercafe. Having tried so many of the client radios on the market and
none performing well in the tropical climate in Ghana, I finally got my
relief. Mikrotik 2.4 Ghz client package has proven to be the best solution
for the topics. It can stand the rugged and tough conditions and the best
part is - the price is unbelievably low. It has defied the old saying "you
get what you pay for". With Mikrotik, less is more.

Recently, during my visit to one of our companies in Africa, I bought a
Mikrotik RouterOS license and helped an associate solve his company's
longstanding Internet woe.
More than 3 years ago, the vendor who supplied them Cisco's solutions for
router and firewall had not supplied them with the necessary training
and/or software that the company can use to control access to the
Internet. More money was required to be paid if they wanted it.
That's where I brought in Mikrotik RouterOS, installed it on one idling
Pentium II PC, and added the firewall/Source-NAT rules for privileged
Internet user IP addresses. Non-privileged users who get floating IP
addresses are allowed to access the company's email server only. All that
was completed in less than a day's work total, including slow download
time to obtain RouterOS. (The download was slow because the 2Mb bandwidth
they had was being hogged.)
And suffice to say that your RouterOS totally replaced the company's Cisco
PIX firewall and gave them control they had not seen from the
beginning. My associate is one happy camper now.

Last weekend our third router went into production. I must say MikroTik
keeps impressing me more and more. This new router routes all traffic for
a small ISP from one co-location room, to a co-location room in another
building and on the fly masquerades an entire IP range. Currently the
router pulls a steady 8 Mbit/s, without the processor ever coming up over
4% util. The configuration for this router took less then 2 hours.
The usage of this new router stems from a far larger assignment, the
movement of an entire hosting ISP to another building and a new IP block.
All-in-all a highly complex, risky and high strung consultancy assignment.
The router passed this test of agility with flying coulors, enabling us to
make this move a smooth one for us and the customer.
These routers deliver a huge bang for the buck. MikroTik, keep up the good
work!

We have configured and deployed the thin router. I am thrilled with the way that RouterOS interfaces with the AP functions. Absolutely everything works exactly as its supposed to. Our company builds, expands, and supplies network operators all over America. We had been using Cirronet products, but what once was a leading edge product for providers hasn't kept abreast of the market. Mikrotik is light years ahead with its equipment by virtue of the versatility of the RouterOS. You folks did a magnificent design job, creating a modular system that can be easily upgraded, expanded on, and maintained.

I know about your software since a long time now - already a few years have i been using your trial versions, and have already bought two licenses. I found you by searching the internet for a small software router, and i found it... I was amazed by the quality and the reliability which are combined with an easy installation and configuration. I couldn't find an alternative, well except a full linux or freebsd distribution maybe :), which can not be installed on a flash disk without totally `crippling` them. This software is not only different with it's serious reliability (more than a year connected to a leased line without overloads), but also because it can be used for many different tasks - whether a firewall for home or a PC based router for internet service providers. Basically it is the possibility to use a complete, fast and easy configurable solution for many different tasks without the need of expensive equipment or specialists.

continue to be amazed at the value that this product provides, and
the flexibility is unequaled. Where else can you get routing,
bandwidth management, DHCP server or client, traffic statistics, 2.4
and 5.8 GHz wireless interfaces and a host of other features in one
inexpensive product? And since it uses a standard PC, if it breaks
we can buy parts locally. My only wish is that the manual and the
GUI were a little more comprehensive, but perhaps if I used it every
day I would feel differently.

all the highend options that one would expect to pay high dollar for at a
fraction of the price! The manuals and commands are fairly
straightforward and easy to understand (unlike another router company...
uh hum.. Cisco.). The support staff is very good and easy to work
with. Since the router runs on a standard PC it does not lock us into
proprietary parts, that's a big advantage! Overall, we have had a great
experience with Mikrotik products and service.

I'm really just beginning to use the MT solution in our network but, so
far, I've been very impressed. The initial test was implementing three
cable-modem circuits. The key was keeping all traffic from the remote
school locations coming back through our centralized proxy servers and
perimeter firewall to the Internet. Using IPIP Tunneling it was a breeze.
I'm using the tunnel to route our "private" network across the ISP's
public network. Far more problems with the ISP's network than with the MT
boxes - in fact there have been no problems with the MT boxes. Late this
last summer I had a Cisco 2621 router get taken out (lightning fried an
ethernet port) and rather than spend $2500 for a new one took a retired
450Mhz machine, loaded MT, turned on the web-proxy component, and now that
school has a better experience browsing the Internet and I saved $2400 in
the process.
Very pleased so far. I would like to see more of a US presence in the
resale channel but I also don't want to see many "layers" in the MT resale
channel...
Thanks for a functional router implementation!

Mikrotik RouterOS is a perfect execution of what a linux thin routerOS
should be. Packed with support for advanced protocols such as PPTP and
IPSEC, including the elusive protocol 47 passthrough, RouterOS offers a
potent router/firewall package at only a fraction of the cost of
competing (or not) OS packages. Speaking from months of testing and
trials, I can testify that there are NO system available that offer the
features, functionality, and finesse of Mikrotik RouterOS. I have
installed dozens of the router system availble from free to $1000, most
of which don't have half of the features available in RouterOS. Most are
either so thin that they won't cut the mustard for any type of prodution
environment, be it small business or home usage. If not thinned, the
systems are so bloated, you might as well install a full linux server.
RouterOS is all of what you want, no compromises. It's enterprise level
function at a end-user level price. Keep up the excellent work!

respect and kindness by the company, besides the procudt works great and
allows me to do things that I couldn't do in my network. The bandwidth
shaper is great for things like that and you can't get it anywhere else
cheaper... afterall we all have to try to make a buck or two and mikrotik
allows Dayton Digital Networks to do that. We are also looking forward

can't just buy one, once you have one, you find all kinds of things you

| Message: | We are running MikroTik v2.0.1 (build 132). Our configuration
looks something like this:
4-channels of T-1 split off by AdTran TSU 120 -
Cisco 1700 - computer running MikroTik
The computer running MikroTik has three network cards
in it. The other two cards go to two separate subnets.
One subnet is our perhaps-misnamed "DMZ" which includes an
Email server and sometimes includes a test web server.
The other subnet is our internal network with about 100
PCs, a DEC Alpha running Tru64 Unix, a MicroVax running
OpenVMS, and an old NeXT running NeXTStep (a flavor
of Unix).
The Cisco 1700 does no firewalling at all; we implemented
our entire firewall through MikroTik. We chose a very
restricted approach, blocking everything except selected
Port-Protocol combinations. We use NAT to translate the
IP address of our email server.
We have been very impressed with the ease of use of
both the web and text interfaces of the MikroTik router.
We found it much easier to work with than the Cisco. We
have been less impressed with the MikroTik documentation,
but after spending a few weeks studying the science of
firewalling on our own, we were fine.
The router has been running for more than four months
with no problems.
P.S.: Note from MikroTik -- the version they are running is more than three years
old and our newest version is v2.6 and documentation has increased to more
than 360 pages!

Boy was I wrong! The interface on the MikroTik is pure pleasure to use.
Simply press ? for help, tab works for command completion, and things
are neatly laid out. It took an hour of reading in the manual and I had

posibility of telnet administration. also with smtp i can easy monitor my
traffic, and with tha bandwith sh apping i can control my data flux in my
network, and i confess it's one of the best firewalls (unbreakable).. I
have not installed yet the 2.4 version but i'm very interested in the new
scripting language added. and one more suggestion. if you can add some DVB
card support because in my country Romania there are much of them.
by the way. After my first instalation of Mikrotik (as a newbie) i had a
65 days uptime without problems. Reboot was caused by power down:)))

| Message: | Hi there from sunny South Africa. First off let me congratulate you on a project well done. The Microtik software based router is superb. I'm a student and have used it to further my studies. My one and only whish was that you had some form of support, be it via newsgroups, a more detailed help file or some FAQ database.
All the best for the future.

The Mikrotik router is running very smoothly. Even after a few unexpected power cuts (faulty UPS) it just starts up and runs with out a hitch. Probably one of the best software products I have invested in...Cisco should be worried....I just don't understand why so many other people are not using it??
I am putting together a recommended product page on my websites. If you would like me to include a link to your product please send me one to paste into the page...

It has extra features that people are asking for. I have been using 6.2 redhat as a router but this is very nice. .

| Message: | The netgear FA310TX is supported and is auto detected. I love this router. Running it on a 486 with 24 megs of ram and a 40 meg harddrive . Also tested it with a P166, 64 megs ram and a 8 gig hd. Worked wonderful with both.
Thank you very much for making this wonderful product.

| Message: | My name is Jimmy Doukas, I am in the Northern Territory of Australia. I have recently downloaded Mikro Tik Syslog Daemon for use on our network. I would first like to thank you for making it available as you have - It is great. A feature which I believe would be absolutely great to add to this awsome program would be to remember the window location and dimensions of the daemon at startup of the last session. Perhaps this great little package already has this feature and I have missed it? Any hints as to overcoming this would be great.

| Message: | Hi, i just downloaded your software and find it very nice. my suggestion is, putting a "script" authentication on the modem pool. Here in the Philippines, most of the ISP here are still hanging on the "SCRIPT". It is better to add it cause here in ASIA, were not using the PAP and CHAT. Thank You for giving me an oppurtunity to suggest.
MORE POWER AND GOD BLESS!

| Subject: | MikroTik v2 PC Router Software. |
| Message: | Hello there!
I just wanted to give some comments on the MikroTik v2 software. I have installed it on a couple of PC's to give it a little test drive at routing ethernet - and was very supprised. I was impressed even more when I installed 6 NIC's and a V.35 card into a single machine and routed a T1 into 6 ethernet segments, with 10 machines on each segment NAT'd and it worked very well. This software is going to be a big help to me, as I install WAN's linked by frame lines, and putting a small inexpensive PC on site to test the lines instead of a $1000 router saves me a lot. I also tested it in some applications where a very pricey bridge would be required or a carefully configured UNIX box, and it worked decently
Thanks for making such a quick and easy product - although almost everything you do could be accomplished with a linux box and a day or two of configuration, that day is often too much time, and there is a lot of room for error.
I would be VERY interested if you could find vendors that sell small 2-3U 19" rackmount PC's with a couple of built-on ethernet and slots to accept V.35 or other cards - to act in place of routers in a nice package instead of a full-sized rackmount case taking up a lot of extra space. I have not tried every facet of the software yet but after I do I will likely provide you with some more detailed feedback and propose some features or modifications
Thank you

| Message: | A suggestion: Add ability to disable rules without deleting them. This would make experimenting with rules much simplier...
BTW, nice job on this router...
P.S.: Note from MikroTik - This feature is available starting from v2.4
